These Trailer Hire Terms and Conditions (Trailer Hire Terms) apply to the hire of trailers (Trailer) listed on our Platform by third- party owners (Trailer Owners) and hired by users (Hirers).
General
Local Hire Marketplace is a peer-to-peer (P2P) platform that connects people who own equipment with people who need to hire it. Instead of buying expensive equipment, you can hire it from trusted people in your local area.

- Choose your hire dates.
- Send a booking request.
- The owner accepts your booking.
- Collect or arrange delivery.
- Return the equipment on time and in the same condition, allowing for fair wear and tear.

Yes, Individuals and businesses can list equipment provided they own the items and comply with Local Hire Marketplace's terms, safety requirements and Australian laws. However, hiring to businesses is prohibited.
Simply browse listings, choose your dates and submit a booking request. The owner can accept or decline the booking.
Booking & Payments

Payment is held via Stripe at the time the booking request is made. Payment is securely processed at the time your booking is confirmed.
Yes. Payments are processed securely through Stripe. Local Hire Marketplace does not store your full credit card details.
Your payment method is used to process your booking and, where applicable, cover authorised charges such as security deposits, additional hire fees or damage claims in accordance with our policies.
Some owners require a refundable security deposit. The deposit amount is shown on the listing before you book.
If the equipment is returned on time and in the agreed condition, your security deposit will generally be released after the owner completes the return inspection.
Hirers
Yes. Identity verification helps create a safer marketplace for everyone and may be required before booking certain items.
Yes. Cancellations can be made up to 24 hours before the commencement time of the booking. Any applicable refunds are calculated according to Local Hire Marketplace Cancellation & Refunds policy found here
If an owner cancels before the hire begins, you'll receive a refund in accordance with Local Hire Marketplace Cancellation & Refunds policy found here and can book another available item.
Yes, another booking will be required, and the Owner must accept the booking. Where there is no available time on the Owners Equipment Calander then the booking cannot be extended due to another booking commitment
Only with the owner's approval. The owner will require identification from the person collecting the equipment.
Owners
Creating a listing is generally free. Local Hire Marketplace earns a service fee when bookings are completed. A Premium Listing option is also be available.
Payments are transferred securely to your nominated bank account after the hire commences or according to our payment schedule.
Yes. Owners have complete control over which bookings they accept.
Absolutely. You choose your daily, weekend or weekly hire rates, security deposit and availability.
Yes. You may offer delivery and collection services and set your own delivery fees.
Equipment & Safety
Owners are responsible for ensuring equipment is safe, clean and fit for hire before each booking. Hirers should inspect equipment before use and report any concerns immediately.
The hirer should notify the owner immediately. Owners and hirers are encouraged to work together to resolve issues fairly before Local Hire Marketplace becomes involved.
Fair wear and tear refers to normal deterioration that occurs through proper use over time. It does not include misuse, negligence, accidental damage or missing parts.
Stop using the equipment immediately and notify the owner. Do not attempt repairs unless authorised by the owner.
Where required, owners should ensure electrical equipment complies with applicable Australian safety standards, including testing and tagging where necessary.
Insurance & Protection
Local General Marketplace does not offer any insurance on any equipment. It is up to the Owner or hirer to arrange their own insurance if necessary.
Disputes
We encourage owners and hirers to communicate respectfully and resolve issues directly. Most disputes can be settled quickly through open communication.
If both parties cannot reach a reasonable resolution, Local Hire Marketplace may review available evidence and assist in resolving the dispute in accordance with our Terms and Conditions and Dispute Resolution policies.
Account
Yes. One account allows you to hire equipment and list your own items for hire.
Log into your account and select Profile Settings to update your personal information, contact details and payment information.
Yes. You can request account deletion by contacting our support team. Some information may be retained where required by law.
Support
You can contact our support team through the Help Centre or by using the contact form on our website.
Support is available during normal Australian business hours. Online help articles are available 24/7.
Premium Listings give owners increased visibility in search results and category pages, helping attract more enquiries and bookings.
No. Premium Listings improve exposure, but bookings still depend on factors such as pricing, photos, descriptions, reviews and availability.
Community
After each completed hire, both the owner and hirer can leave a review. Honest reviews help build trust within the Local Hire Marketplace community.
Yes. If you experience unsafe, abusive or suspicious behaviour, please report it immediately through your account or contact our support team directly on [email protected].
